The Monroe County fair runs through Saturday, July 6.
On the Fourth of July, the grandstand featured the Three Bar J rodeo, an event sanctioned by the International Pro Rodeo Association
Opening ceremonies started at 8 p.m.
As the rodeo got underway, the sun was still well above the rooflines of the barns to the west of the grandstands. That kept the place plenty warm, but the light was coming from the right direction to shoot some photographs.
First out of the chute were the bareback bronc riders. (Click on any photo for a self-directed slideshow of larger images.)
